Stress in Cats

What is stress?

Stress is a word that gets thrown around a lot, so much that we often fail to really digest what it actually means for our cats.

Cats in a state of stress are unhappy, some to the point of becoming ill.

Stress cystitis, anorexia and dehydration are perfect examples of what can happen if a stressed cat is too frightened to behave normally.

The signs are often not noticed until its too late.

The whole purpose of The Cats Whiskers is to help you to reduce the stress of you leaving your cat by not changing the environment they are living in.

Stresses in a cattery

Many catteries are excellent facilities, professionally run and offer a safe place for your cat to stay.

This is not about bashing catteries..., however it is my opinion that cats are just happier at home.

Cats usually do not like strange cats, strange environments and strange people and a cattery has all of these things.

In my career over the years I have seen many cats unwell after a stay in a cattery where they just simply couldn't cope with the environment and this is why I decided to set up The Cats Whiskers.

Why choose home care?

With home visits you can fully control your cat's environment.

We can have them indoors or going in and out, their food is the same and in the same place, their water and toilet areas are all the same.

The only thing that is different is that you're not there.

We will be able to adjust the service to their particular needs.

Some need loads of attention and a crazy game, some need to be left alone. Some love a play, some prefer a cuddle
Some cats are on medication  Some are elderly and need an extra eye on their health

All are looked after as if they were my own.
